As we look back on 2010 at Frogs Are Green, we’d like to share some of the highlights of the year.

Frogs Are Green Display
In March we were asked to put up a display about Frogs Are Green and the global amphibian crisis at Hoboken’s City Hall. The display has frog books, kids’ drawings of frogs, posters, and more. The display is still there on the second floor of City Hall if you’d like to see it! (Right across the street from the Cake Boss.) We’re hoping to create a traveling display for schools and other organizations. If you’re interested, please email us.

Earth Day
In April, we sponsored an Earth Day contest in which we asked people to send us simple practical ideas to help the environment, inspired by the words Rethink, Reconnect, Rebuild and Renew. We also visited Earth Day festivals and fairs to hand out our red-eyed tree frog postcards and our Frogs Are Green wristbands to kids and adults.

  BP Oil spill
We wrote several posts about the oil spill, including posts about dangers of oil to wetlands, dolphins, birds, and sea turtles. We also created a series of t-shirts with the theme, Do you love oil more than… pelicans… dolphins… to express our feelings about this devastating environmental disaster and to help raise money for wildlife organizations in the Gulf Coast area.
It Is Easy Being Green campaign
We were thrilled that artist Paul Zwolak offered to donate his wonderful art for our campaign, It Is Easy Being Green. We launched our first kids’ art contest and have received nearly 200 entries from all over the world. Click here to see the gallery of kids’ art. Winners in 3 age groups will be announced Dec. 15th, 2010.

In the Press
One of our most enjoyable moments was being photographed on the steps of Hoboken City Hall in August for the cover article for The Waterfront Journal, Hoboken, Jersey City, which appeared 8/19/10.

Recently we were interviewed by Jeff Kart with Discovery’s Planet Green for a slideshow of the 10 Most Interesting, Threatened and Endangered Frogs (photos provided by Richard D. Bartlett).

Looking ahead to 2011, we plan to launch a spin-off website for kids, Frogs Are Green Kids, and to create educational and fun activities for kids, including free downloads, slideshows, and videos.

We’re looking for ways to increase funding for these projects by offering new products for sale, applying for grants, looking for sponsors, and so on. We hope that you will support our cause at Frogs Are Green in the years ahead and help us to spread the word!
