Welcome to our blog,
FROGS ARE GREEN!

For over 200 million years, ponds, marshes, grasslands, and rain forests have come alive with the calls of frogs. Yet these remarkable and colorful animals are declining at such a rapid rate that they are being called the Earth’s next dinosaurs. According to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, a third of the world’s amphibian species are threatened with extinction. To read more, click here!

Announcing the Winners of the Frogs Are Green Kids Art Contest 2011

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

We’re excited to announce the winners of our second annual FROGS ARE GREEN art contest for kids. We received over 500 entries from young artists from more than 20 countries around the world. Each piece of art is special to us and we are so grateful to the kids, parents, and teachers who sent in their creations. We were thrilled to see so many original, fun, and thoughtful drawings and paintings of our favorite amphibian. It was extremely difficult to pick winners.

This year we also received many 3D artworks so we added a 3D art category. In addition, we added three more categories—the best “green theme” artwork, the best “poster idea or promotion” of Frogs Are Green, and the most “unusual” art.

The artwork will continue to be on exhibit in our gallery, and we encourage all participants to show off their amazing artwork to friends, family, and fellow students. We will be sending out the free wristbands to every child who entered the contest. If you haven’t sent us your address, please do so. You can also print out a downloadable certificate of participation.

Contest Update: Frogs Are Green Kids Art Contest 2011

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

We’ve been so excited to receive entries for our kids’ art contest from children all over the United States, as well as entries from Canada, Scotland, Ireland, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Hong Kong.

You can view the entries by either selecting the “galleries” link in the top navigation or by holding the cursor over the gallery thumbnails in the right sidebar, where you will see the Kids’ Art Contest 2011 among others. Once you click on the first piece of art, just click the forward and back arrows and you can view each piece of art in a slide show.

We’re so impressed by the variety of the art: from crayon, colored pencil, watercolors, and paintings to 3D sculptures, collage, and mixed media.

If you haven’t entered your artwork and would still like to, please click on the contest rules at the top of the blog. The age groups are 3-6, 7-9, and 10-12 and there will be a winner in each group. The winners will be featured in a post.

Also, if you’ve entered the contest, please don’t forget to send your address so we can send you a Frogs Are Green wristband after the contest is over. These wristbands are really nice—they’re smaller than the usual wristbands (youth size) so are good for kids. Susan and I wear our wristbands 24/7!*

Anyway, we’re so happy to see so many creative kids out there creating and expressing themselves for our favorite animal!

*Note: Our use of your address is a one-time thing. It won’t be saved or used for any purpose other than for sending the wristbands.
